Omar Harris brings over two decades of competitive spirit to Team Blacksmith. A former motorcycle racer, Omar spent 20+ years racing sportbikes before retiring in 2017 after a serious crash at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Seeking a new challenge, he discovered competitive shooting at age 55—a hobby that quickly became a passion and the perfect replacement for the adrenaline and camaraderie of racing.

Inspired by celebrity shooter Colion Noir, Omar trained at The Tire Range in Texas before entering his first competition, where he placed in the forties out of 65 shooters. He spent the next two years steadily improving, specializing in Production division with iron sights before expanding into Carry Optics. Known for his ability to shoot accurately on the move, Omar prioritizes safety, strong fundamentals, and steady progress over placement.

His training routine includes dry fire practice five times a week, with an emphasis on visualization and mental preparation. Sponsored by Blazer Ammunition, Omar competes with the Canik Rival S and CZ P-10 F, keeping his setup simple and focused on essentials like quality belts, and specialized shooting glasses.

Beyond the range, Omar owns E Squared Cigars, a family-run cigar and sports bar in Wilmington, Delaware, where he’s been welcoming guests since 2018. A proud father, grandfather, and avid cigar enthusiast, Omar balances competition with family, business, and community. He has introduced numerous African American shooters to the sport, helping to grow representation and visibility in competitive shooting.

Within Team Blacksmith, Omar embraces his role as the “old guy” of the team—providing calm, mentorship, and perspective to newer participants. His message to newcomers is simple but powerful: don’t wait—just start now. For Omar, the true rewards of the sport are found in personal growth, steady improvement, and the camaraderie shared along the way.
